GEDCOM Fix

Privacy Policy

Your GEDCOM files are read on your own device and never sent to us. This page sets out exactly what that means, and what little we do collect.

Your GEDCOM files never leave your device

Every tool on GEDCOM Fix — including the Upload Readiness Checker and Tree Splitter — parses and processes GEDCOM files entirely client-side, in your browser. When you select or drop a file into a tool, it is read directly by JavaScript running on your own device. It is never uploaded, transmitted, or sent to our servers or to any third party. We have no server-side file processing pipeline for any tool on this site, and we do not store, log, or have access to the contents of any file you use with these tools.

This also means: if you close your browser tab, nothing you uploaded persists anywhere — not on our servers (because it was never sent there) and not necessarily on your own device either, unless a specific tool explicitly tells you otherwise.

Accounts and personal data

GEDCOM Fix does not require or offer user accounts, logins, or any form of server-side storage of personal data. We don't collect names, emails, or family tree data through our tools.

Contact form and email

If you email us directly (see our Contact page), we retain that correspondence only as needed to respond to you, and don't use it for any other purpose.

Cookies and analytics

We use privacy-conscious analytics to understand which pages and tools are used, so we can prioritize what to build next. This does not include any content from files you process with our tools, since that data never reaches us in the first place.

Advertising

This site is supported by Google AdSense. Once ads are live, this section will disclose exactly which ad vendors are used and how they may use cookies or similar technology to serve ads — no ad code runs on this site until that disclosure is in place.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that affects how your data is handled, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
